Gunderson to speak at HRC fundraising dinner

Columbus-Former Wisconsin Rep. Steve Gunderson and his partner Rob Morris will be the keynote speakers at this year's Human Rights Campaign dinner.

The HRC's 14th annual Columbus fundraising dinner will be June 21 at the new Adams Mark Hotel. The event was previously slated to take place at the Athenaeum, but was moved to the Adams Mark, on the corner of Third and Gay Streets downtown.

HRC holds dinners throughout the nation to raise funds. HRC is also the largest national lesbian and gay political organization, with members throughout the country. It lobbies Congress, provides campaign support, and educates the public to ensure that lesbian and gay Americans can be open, honest, and safe at home, at work and in the community.

The cocktail reception and the silent auction begin at 6:00 pm, with musical entertainment being provided by the band Moxie.

The dinner begins at 8:00 pm and will feature keynote speakers Steve Gunderson and Rob Morris. Gunderson is the first openly gay Republican in Congress. Morris, Gunderson's life partner, is president of Morris-Day, a residential architectural firm in Arlington, Virginia.

Gunderson retired from Congress in 1996. He and Morris recently authored the book House and Home. Donna Red Wing, national field coordinator for HRC will also be speaking.
